While I still say this job's not ideal

I think I know the relationship problems of literally everyone in Pallet by now; really, I'd probably hear less awkward confessions working as a bartender.

But I can't really complain about it at this point; the first day or so was hideous, but it's going fairly well, all things considered.

I'm all right. I visited with the old man and his Patrat for awhile. Kant's working on a new song — that might be what he wants to talk to you about. And then I made a bit more headway toward rehabilitating the rage-fish and only lost Miss Locke Ankhey twice.

I'm currently looking after the place on my own for the next hour or so; these people are entirely too trusting, I may go mad with power before the weekend.

Have you thought about what you'll do, once your two weeks of exile are up?

It's more along the lines of, I don't want you to end up lacking...structure, as soon as your debt to society has been paid off. If that makes sense.

Something like that. It's not a roundabout way of trying to ask how you're feeling about it or anything to that effect. I just know that you tend to function better under certain circumstances than others.

For what it's worth, I didn't think you were trying anything roundabout like that - if you're going to ask me how I feel about something and you really want a truthful answer, you always ask me directly.

At the same time, he knew the same thing that you've just stated, about me functioning better under certain circumstances; the possibility that he may leave this place before me is something that he'd planned for. I have orders to tide me over for now.

For what it's worth, I am trying in a roundabout manner to find out if you're likely to go blow up a city again.

But that's a secondary concern for right now.
