It's more along the lines of, I don't want you to end up lacking...structure, as soon as your debt to society has been paid off. If that makes sense.

Something like that. It's not a roundabout way of trying to ask how you're feeling about it or anything to that effect. I just know that you tend to function better under certain circumstances than others.

For what it's worth, I didn't think you were trying anything roundabout like that - if you're going to ask me how I feel about something and you really want a truthful answer, you always ask me directly.

At the same time, he knew the same thing that you've just stated, about me functioning better under certain circumstances; the possibility that he may leave this place before me is something that he'd planned for. I have orders to tide me over for now.

I'm actually willing to consider that, simply because they would assume I'm genuinely baiting.

As aggravating as they can be, it would be worth seeing them panic while they try to work out where I am and how I've managed to weaponize the carnations.

If you're referring to the one I'm thinking about, I've known about him for quite some time. I've also known about the person he's with - lovely girl, really.

I'm going to hope it's the same one, if only because I'd frankly find it concerning if there were more than one.

Were you trying to sound as particularly sinister as you did, there?

That hardly matters, since I'm not under any orders to go after them; I honestly don't care what they do either way. It's entirely possible that someone will be told to deal with them eventually; it's entirely possible that no one will bother because they weren't particularly valuable.
