I remember where I was a year ago, this time of year. In comparison to where I am now, I'm not sure if it's been a change for the better.

My significant other was sick right around this time last year. You remember the virus that went around, I assume?

Believe me, if I could forget that particular virus, I gladly would.

Am I to assume you were playing caretaker, then?

I would've phrased it as, "I remained fortuitously immune", personally.

He had it worse than most people.

Our significant others had similar luck, then; however, mine insisted on hiding his own issues from me for quite some time. I suppose he thought it was for the best; perhaps it was, as I wasn't in any condition to be handling anyone else's problems.

What sort of symptoms was yours showing, through curiosity?

Plates, fangs, spines, and a fever that wouldn't break. Are you familiar with Lichtenberg figures?

I believe so. Those branching effects caused by high-energy discharges, aren't they?

Consider yourself fortunate to have been unaffected; the power that particular incident tended to cause was certainly interesting, but nowhere near worth the hassle.
