[There had been some definite toying around on this particular connection today, the screen flickering off and on as the PGC's functions were flipped from video to voice to text and back - anyone with a reasonably quick eye may have caught glimpses of amber eyes and long black hair, and perhaps sharp features holding an expression that seemed more amused than anything else. However, Kimblee has never really been interested in wasting too much time with playthings; the PGC hasn't been completely abandoned, as there are occasional sounds that indicate that someone is still in the area - footsteps once in a while, followed by odd scratching sounds and the like - but Kimblee himself is nowhere to be seen.

...probably because he's left the thing on in Voice mode before wandering away from it. The technology is a bit beyond him, and apparently he hasn't quite figured out how to turn it off.]

...try this again, shall we?

[Either Kimblee is muttering to himself or his conversational partner is exceedingly boring, as there's no response; either way, there's a bit of odd rustling, like fabric being shifted a bit, before a sharp snap - someone clapping their hands together, perhaps.

A brief pause. Another clapping sound.

Sigh.]

No...no, of course not.

[A few moments pass before there's a bit of a clatter - clearly he's decided the PGC is worth another shot, as he's back to fiddling with it, humming lightly to himself as the screen suddenly flickers to life.

Good afternoon! This would be Kimblee. And just barely visible on the ledge behind him would be several circles etched into it, with various designs scrawled into them.

For those who are familiar with transmutation circles, it seems he's been making an...attempt at alchemy. A very, uh, persistent attempt. Given that the clapping implies he was just trying to blow the thing up, apparently he just really doesn't like that ledge.]

Well, it seems that even with four functioning limbs you can't vault over them properly, and the chimera I've been given is useless in terms of destroying them. Either these ledges are defying all logic, or there's some other force at work. Dare I ask?

[Because as polite as his tone is...no, really, those ledges are just unfair.]

It's less 'magic' than it is 'a field of study,' though it tends to be mistaken as such for those who are unfamiliar with the practice. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to function here.

[He studies her for a moment before responding, a bit of an odd look in his eyes; there's something about her appearance that seems to strike him a bit oddly at first, though he's rather quick to dismiss it, the usual easy smile crossing his features.]

You aren't familiar with them? I believe they're referred to by a different name here, but for the sake of brevity -

[The PGC shifts focus then, going oddly blurry for a moment while it moves before focusing on what's best described as an oversized Pokéball with a face. It doesn't seem too intent on doing anything in particular, other than rolling around Kimblee's legs and generally getting in the way much in the way of a very persistent cat at the top of a particularly steep staircase.

Well, then. Allow me to apologize for the misunderstanding - my name is Solf J. Kimblee; it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

From the sound of it, you have some understanding of exactly how this place works - or at least, how it is that I know you despite your having never met me at all; would it be possible to ask you for a brief explanation?

Ah. Such things are entirely outside my field of expertise, I'm afraid.

Although if that truly is the case, then perhaps you'll cooperate when it comes to telling me what you know. Or shall I simply seek out some of the others? I'll get answers about this place one way or another, mind you; it's simply in your best interest to supply them yourself.

[Admittedly, he has no way of knowing exactly who is here; however, it's unlikely that he and Ed are the only people from Amestris that managed to end up in this place, isn't it?]

First off, that thing following you around? It's not a chimera. It's called a Pokemon. Think of it as your helpful pet you use to fight other Pokemon and defend yourself.

Second, this place really doesn't make much sense in general. If you look at a map, you'll notice some places you can't reach without crossing a large body of water. For some reason, even if you have a Pokemon that can swim, they apparently can't carry you across unless you teach them a certain move. The same goes with a flying Pokemon. Even if it can fly and it's big enough to carry you, it won't unless you teach it a certain move. Don't expect to get any good information from the locals either. They just repeat the same thing over and over.

There's a theory going around that challenging gym leaders in certain towns and collecting the eight badges here, then defeating the 'Elite Four' will get us home, but so far, no one's been able to prove or disprove it.

What's that? I guess it's a Pokemon right? But I've never seen one like that before! Of course I've only been here... three months? And um, have only made it to Violet City but! I've seen what they have around here and I've never seen that before!

...Ummm. It's complicated and kind of difficult to explain but, sure I can try. Looks like this place, Johto, can bring anyone here from any time period of their life. Mister Mustang's clearly from somewhere far ahead of the brothers and me, Al was ahead of Ed until Ed went back home for a few weeks... So the time thing is just completely random.

I heard that people can also fall into a coma here. They go back home during that so called coma and when they wake up, they've been home for some time and things back there have really happened to them, so they haven't been just dreaming about those things. Just, never question time here?

Unfortunately.

[He feels secure enough not to bother hiding it, considering Kimblee's lack of alchemy, his own team of high leveled monsters, and the fact that everyone knows people lose their powers here already. But wait a second.]

And what would you know about those? [He's giving Kimblee a narrow-eyed, considering look. It's always possible that Greed told him, and he thinks he remembers seeing Kimbley with Greed that one time the two of them fought...or this could be another double from another world. Either way, he wants to know where exactly he stands.]

[Kimblee notes the shift in expression; what with how much of his time he spends scanning others, particularly newcomers, it would be more difficult for him not to notice. If this person knows...him, or rather a 'version' of him who died recently, it would make sense that he wouldn't necessarily be pleased to see him here; perhaps it would be an unpleasant reminder - yes, that would make sense, and given how informal the initial greeting was, it's safe to assume that there was perhaps some degree of...familiarity there...

It's something to keep an eye on, at any rate.]

Well, that is unfortunate. What were you in the process of doing back in Amestris, if I may?

[There are a few reasons for that question, the primary being that Archer sounds as though he has something to return to; Kimblee has been rather aware from the start that he can't exactly say the same. He'd been vaguely amused to find himself here, given that; the concept of an afterlife is one that he's never entertained. But if that isn't what this is...well. That's something, isn't it.]

[Well! That worked rather well in the end, didn't it.]

Yes, that's much better. Completely nonsensical, of course, I suppose it's no more so than the rest of this place.

It's good to know that you're still capable of seeing reason, Fullmetal - I'm sure we would both prefer that we not make this any more difficult than it really needs to be, wouldn't we?

Forgive me for the sentiment, as I'm afraid it makes little sense given that you haven't gone through that particular experience yet, but I'm glad to see you in good health and good spirits.

[The words come easily; they're not entirely lies. Some truths are just more technical than others - after all, he certainly has had reason to be concerned...whether he was or not is another story. But that smile remains gentle; he doesn't shy away from eye contact with the camera.]
