006. [Text/Action for Goldenrod City/Northern Route 34]
[TEXT]
While I suppose it matters relatively little in the long run, morbid curiosity compels -
Exactly how driven are most of you to complete this 'challenge' that's been set forth, and what drives you to complete it in the first place - what do you have to return to?
[ACTION]
[A short time after that text hits the network, Kimblee can be found just outside of Goldenrod City, on the northern end of Route 34; if the question is at all related to anything he's currently doing, it's not obvious in the least...outside of the part where maybe the Pokémon he's dealing with might be making him not want to live on this planet anymore.
Basically, his Yanma evolved.
Fortunately for him, the hellbug she has become seems to have retained her personality despite the evolution. She's honestly always been more like a dog than an oversized dragonfly; now she's just...well, a sufficiently larger dog. As such, she's bringing Kimblee a decently-sized stick to toss off into the nearby cluster of trees for her to chase; Kimblee is complying with her, albeit warily - he's never had much of a poker face, and while he seems generally calm, it's reasonably plain that he's half-expecting her to do something odd.
Like snap his arm off to get at the stick. Or maybe bring him back a person, or something.
Either way, he's clearly wondering what the hell his life has become. Good afternoon, Johto, it's been a while.]

Double Team, then.
[Because really, if he must work with the fragile speedy thing, he will at the very least make her an evasive fragile speedy thing.
...nice to know that we're starting this battle out annoying the hell out of each other already, Archer.]
no subject
[Okay, this isn't bad; it's possible he'll miss, but Abdiel won't be doing much to Maróczy, assuming she even knows any decent Bug-type moves (do those exist?). Archer nods to the dog and he blasts a Flamethrower attack at Abdiel.]
no subject
...and oh, there goes Speed Boost.]
Again, Abdiel.
[...Evasive. Speedy. Thing.]
no subject
Odor Sleuth.
[Another move he rarely uses! That's probably because most things in the wild aren't this annoying. He can't stop Speed Boost any, but he can hopefully cut down Abdiel's evasion.]
no subject
...Archer, this Speed Boost is kind of trolling you at this point, isn't it? There it goes again, at any rate.]
Ancientpower!
[Because when in doubt, throw rocks at it -
...
...you know what...he'll have to check something after this battle, but that's neither here nor there for now.]

Yes, all right, Kimblee really can't talk about that, because as soon as that bug's down Carlisle is being sent out again with immediate orders for Earthquake, but still. It's fine when he does it, shut up.]
no subject
[Archer gives the Alakazam a nod and the Pokémon immediately unleashes a Psychic attack.]
no subject
Again, Carlisle, Earthquake -
[Because that kind of really goddamn hurt, Archer. What the hell do you feed that thing, that sort of power is ridiculous and Carlisle isn't going to take much more of that sort of thing.]
no subject
[Axis twists its head all the way around and beeps a few times after its sent out onto the field.]
Axis, attack.
[This one tends to respond a bit better to verbal commands, but even so Archer still won't directly say what attack name he's going for. Axis unleashes another Psychic attack at Carlisle.]
no subject
Right now, however, he's a bit busy being annoyed that your...Exorcist machine thing has taken out Carlisle. The amount of how dare you radiating off of him is practically tangible, but that's perfectly fine, we're going to send out Kistna.
...whom you will likely destroy in your next move, but oh well.]
Feint, Kistna, quickly now -
[...and try not to suck while you're at it, dear god you are a white...thing with a scythe on the side of your face, please be awesome.]
no subject
[Oh, well this is something new! It's a... dog with a scythe in its head, awesome. It actually looks somewhat threatening. The attack hits Axis for... well, it's basically just a nice little tap. The level schism here is pretty large, after all. Archer raises an eyebrow, but doesn't comment.]
[Now then, what type is this thing? Normal? He doesn't have any Fighting-type moves. Hmm. It could be a Dark-type...? Let's go with that!]
Confuse it, Axis.
[Which is actually codename for Signal Beam! Since it can cause confusion. Anyway, Axis shoots the attack after spinning around a bit in the air.]
no subject
...and he's pretty sure that's not Confusion, or anything that even vaguely resembles it. Either way, Kistna's going down, and Kimblee is - ]
Archer, what is wrong with you -
[...still kind of hung up on that attack name, okay! Right. Well. Dorian. Get out there and do something useful for once.]
Flamethrower.
no subject
What?
[Well, whatever, it looks like Dorian is up. He doesn't have anything good against the fox, but it shouldn't be difficult to take it out. Flamethrower does more damage than Feint, but Axis holds on, still beeping and twisting in ways that are indeed rather horrifying.]
Don't give up yet, Axis.
[And that causes the Porygon-Z to use Recover, healing up to half its health! ...Yes, Archer is just being annoying now, what were you expecting?]
no subject
Roar, Dorian, I don't want to deal with it right now.
[...it seems that Dorian concurs. Let's get a new opponent, this one is creepy as hell.]
no subject
[Lineface, Kimblee. Fine, fine you can have a new opponent! Say hello to Lucena! The pimpkrow preens idly while Archer considers his options. Finally he flicks a finger in Dorian's direction and Lucena responds accordingly. Enjoy that Night Slash attack!]
no subject
Unfortunately, between that Night Slash and Super Luck, you're going to get a hell of a crit on Dorian, who is going to go out in all his usual dignity - that is to say, whining all the way.
Fine, then. Aya's his last; you can have that to contend with.]
Rollout.
no subject
[Archer makes the same gesture and Lucena once again uses Night Slash.]
no subject
Aya isn't...pleased about it because maaaaaaaaan, boss, why you gotta treat it so bad, but at the same time it'll get off another hit with Rollout after taking that damn Night Slash.]
no subject
[Lucena's not going to survive another hit, but he might as well stop Rollout before it gets powerful enough to take out his Crobat in one hit.]
[Archer folds his hands behind his back and nods toward Lucena. She quickly uses Protect.]
no subject
Swift, then.
[An asshole. You are one.]
no subject
[...Say hello to Axis again, Kimblee! It's slower than the Electrode, but Archer gives it orders anyway.]
Trick Room.
[This isn't a move he uses very often, if only because Axis is faster than everything he's battled. This should at least provide him with some advantage.]
