That would be why I'm asking, I suppose; to borrow your wording, what's felt is often tempered by what's known. Strong emotional reactions serve only to be contaminants of thought and reason; they're not something I experience regularly, which apparently constitutes some sort of heresy to those who do experience such things often.
It's always seemed a bit pointless to me; I rather appreciate not having those experiences, and if it means I remain rational when others can't, then that's their problem, not mine.
