02X - Reintro. [Text/Locked Audio to the Rocket Frequency]
[TEXT]
[Well! Those of you on the network today will be greeted by a bit of audio late this morning, from a device ID that's been bouncing back all attempts at contact for the last several weeks.]
...Oh, that's cute.
[...well, if that wasn't the most triumphant return ever, I don't know what is.
At the very least, however, he seems to get over whatever he's almost audibly linefacing at long enough to realize that the device is recording something; he promptly switches the thing over to text - he's never really liked talking at the machine when he's addressing all of Johto.]
My, it seems this place does still have its sense of humor, doesn't it? And here I thought that perhaps I'd only lost three days at worst - it was a bit of a surprise to find out otherwise.
Ah, but that's neither here nor there, is it?
[Kimblee, hon.]
There's not much to report from home, unfortunately; however, it'll be a pleasure getting in contact with all of you again - hopefully you've all been at least reasonably well.
[Oh, well. At least he doesn't seem too off-put by the whole disappearing-for-a-month-and-a-half thing?]
[PRIVATE AUDIO - TEAM ROCKET FREQUENCY]
[...At least, not until the audio message that goes out over the private Rocket network a few minutes later; Kimblee's voice is cold and clipped, and the amiable "tone" from the text earlier is completely absent.
He has no idea if he still holds his rank or not; he suspects he doesn't. Like hell if he won't throw it around anyway. He's a bit displeased at his life basically being a .gif from Community, and he's going to figure out what in the good hell is going on if it kills him.]
This is Team Rocket Beta Solf J Kimblee, reporting back in for duty; to my superiors, I admit that I don't know what happened, but I assure you that it won't happen again.
To the rest of you - check in with me immediately, particularly if you're one of my subordinates. I'm receiving a lot of "ID Not Found" nonsense, and I need to know who's still present; given that and various things that I've had to hear about secondhand, I expect a full report regarding what happened here from someone, I'm not feeling particularly choosy right now.
New members to the organization - welcome to it, and you have my personal apologies for the disarray. For now, you're welcome to introduce yourselves; it'll serve you well to know that I'm good to those who are good to me. Again, prove yourself useful and you'll be rewarded.
None of this is a request. Allow me to make that much clear.
[...oh dear. Well. At least he's not in much position to actually do anything at the moment - this is Team Rocket we're talking about, and if somebody's on the network very vocally overstating their importance and/or competence, that means it's pretty much a day ending in Y.]

[likewise!]
I'm...sorry, what? Surely you can't be the only -
[There are no words. No. Words.]
Forgive me for my rudeness in being so abrupt, but that can't possibly be the case - who's vanished, to your knowledge?
no subject
[He feels you, Kimblee. Oh does he feel you.]
But it is the case. Kato, Descole, Caroline, and Dimitri have all disappeared. The former three disappeared around the time you did, and the latter just recently. I attempted contact with all of them, to no avail. It's absolutely distressing if you ask me.
There were a few others who disappeared as well, but I don't have the entire list. Perhaps other members can fill in the blanks.
[He lets that settle in for a moment before continuing.]
We have acquired new recruits in the weeks since, but there is still a noticeable gap in the ranks. The higher ups have continued to remain silent, despite the mass disappearances within the organization.
no subject
[Ugh, goddamn it. He's going to have so much work to do here, it isn't funny; good thing he's goal-oriented.]
I'll worry about getting in contact with the higher-ups; don't let that concern you for now. How much of an impact has this had on your own progress? Are you able to compensate enough to continue with your own projects, or do you require assistance? Surely some of the new recruits could actually be useful, even if science isn't their expressed field.
no subject
[Thank god for Kimblee being back or they'd probably be stuck in disarray.]
My own projects are faring fairly well. I've been using my Pokemon as assistants for the time being, but I don't see why I can't extend an offer to the new recruits as well... They would have to be extremely careful and competent with handling valuable parts, however. I will not tolerate any destruction of my work.
[Can you tell he's had bad experiences with grunts?]
no subject
[Honestly, Dist, he's willing to overlook how completely ridiculous he finds you on most days in the name of bitching about this entire issue with you. When you are one of the most welcome people he's spoken to about this entire fiasco...and you certainly are, just because really there is something weirdly nice about the complaining. Gives him something to do, something to focus on and fix, rather than just want to smash his head against the wall with regards to how stupid this entire thing is.]
I'll see if I can find competent assistance for you once most of this is sorted, then; I take it you've had some experiences that were...less than positive with some of the more, ah, native members of the organization?
[He usually doesn't extend this sort of implicit offer, but...if you have any particular grunt horror stories, man, feel free to shriek.]
no subject
Well of course the natives are known to be bumbling imbeciles, but shockingly it was a non-native grunt in this case! The idiot was throwing her own Pokemon through the halls and it collided with me while I was carrying valuable parts! That set me back weeks!!
[And shriek he did. That happened months ago and he is still pissed about it.]
That said, I would greatly appreciate if you did find competent assistance.
no subject
[no really what the hell is this]
no subject
no subject
I do appreciate your reporting in here, however, though I'll be blunt and say that it would have been better if you had less unfortunate news for me - but that's neither here nor there, nor is it anything that you can really do anything about. Is there anything else, before I start trying to get things settled?
no subject
[There's a slight pause as he considers any other news.]
There is some positive amongst all of the negative. I've been hard at work with my research, and I am nearly at the point of presenting it to you all. I do believe you may like my findings thus far.
no subject
[Seriously, why are the fabulous ones always the ones that are ridiculously lab-competent? Between this one and Kato...
Well, as long as Dist doesn't insist on parading about in dresses, everything will be fine, surely.]
And what has this research of yours entailed, exactly? Or is it a surprise for later?
no subject
I believe I've given you a few details in the past, but here is a recap:
I've been working with Pokemon that evolve via items and trading in attempt to determine just what parts of their genetic makeup trigger the process. However, doing so has been slightly difficult without proper equipment, and well...I believe I am just about finished creating said equipment. If I am able to successfully record the information I need, I may just be able to do some genetic manipulation of my own.
no subject
However, it takes him a moment to process the information; he has no idea what's being described, really, as he is from 1915 and no one has taught him these things properly (and he really can't be bothered to learn besides), and as such genetics are a bit over his head, but he thinks he gets the basic idea.]
Well, that does sound excellent. What sort of results are you aiming for, in terms of your own manipulations?
no subject
Clearly one of these days Dist should sit him down and teach him the beauty of science. It would be the most thrilling conversation ever, Kimblee, really.]
If I can get this to work, the possibilities are quite enormous, actually. But at the moment, I want to see if I can apply Metal Coats to Pokemon not known to evolve with them.
no subject
Artificially inducing a secondary Steel-type to the species? Interesting...perhaps I'll make a point of coming down to the labs sometime to get a look for myself. However, for the time being, I have quite the bureaucratic nightmare to sort through - your information has been some of the only positive news I've heard all day; consider me grateful for it.
Until then, the best of luck to you in your research.
[And that will, quite simply, be that, really.]
