Yes, it's most certainly haunted. It's also the town with the tower where that reporter supposedly disappeared earlier this year. That's part of the reason I went, was to climb it and see what came of it.

There might've been? But that's the only thing I remember about it, really. Just...I woke up with that bad feeling, and thinking there'd been screaming, somehow.

It hardly matters to him, after all, especially since it wasn't intentional, as he's been saying; if she acknowledges that it wasn't, and he acknowledges that it wasn't, why should he care what the effect was? He didn't have anything to do with it, it doesn't really affect him in any meaningful sort of way, so why...

Well, at least they accomplished that much; I still say you would have been left something better, had I known in advance that that was going to happen.

"Something better" in that it would have been more appropriate, you probably would have liked it better overall, and I wouldn't have ended up needing it to be returned.
