I ask that you forgive the morbidity of the question, but I find that there are some things that can't exactly go unasked -

I've heard rumors that if one dies in Johto, one doesn't exactly remain that way; has anyone actually proven this? If so, whom, and by what means?

[Early afternoon in Violet City will see Kimblee dressed like quite possibly the world's most pretentious horseback rider, what with the black pants tucked into the pale grey knee-high boots, an amber shirt that's perhaps far too nice for the occasion, and the usual thick gloves over his hands, the ends of which disappear neatly under his sleeves. It would look halfway appropriate were he in the company of...I don't know, a Rapidash or something similar, but instead he's got Carlisle out in front of him. Kimblee seems to be checking over his murder mammoth, who's been at a bit less than 100% after almost a week of constant pushing to get to Violet City in the first place; however, after several days' rest, he seems to be doing fine. Kimblee is singing to himself as he circles the creature; it's not entirely perfect, but it's a decent mimickry of the tune Emmy was singing a few days ago.

Either way, he doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that holy balls it's cold out here; hell, he's not even Blofelding it up with his Pineco right now. Obviously, whatever it is he's doing, he's a man on a mission. Or something.]

Well, that sounds like a rather interesting challenge, doesn't it.

I suppose that would depend on what sort of zombies we're discussing; there are certain types out there that are created to be a bit impervious to that sort of thing - you're not destroying those with anything short of an explosion.

So they're created, where you're from?

In the loosest sense of the term, yes; there's a way to create empty physical bodies that are effectively dead but kept in stasis, to be animated later with the souls of the technically deceased.

"Technically" deceased?

[Choice of words, Kimblee. They only breed more questions.]

[Oh, he knows. And a fair amount can be determined about someone based on whether they actually ask said questions, or simply decide that they don't want to know.]

Ah, it seems that to a fair amount in this world, the soul is an abstract concept - something that may or may not exist, or is only believed in by the devoutly religious. That isn't so where I come from; the existence of one's soul isn't up for debate, as it has been proven without a shadow of a doubt to exist, and given the right circumstances it can continue to live on outside of one's body. Not in the form of a spectre or a ghost of some sort - such stories are nonsense - but in an actually tangible form regardless.

This would be how one would reanimate the corpses - or at least, that's how I'm assuming it works. I'm not entirely positive, as I never did get to witness them in action; I was brought to Johto before I could see them awakened.

But he doesn't comment on the part of the 'soul' thing, because it's basically an idea anyway. There's no actual fact behind what it really is, what it does, etc. It just is.]

Well, look at it this way - it's either see the zombies and possibly get mauled by them, or be able to own tremendous monsters that are obedient to my will. I think it's more than a fair tradeoff.
