I ask that you forgive the morbidity of the question, but I find that there are some things that can't exactly go unasked -

I've heard rumors that if one dies in Johto, one doesn't exactly remain that way; has anyone actually proven this? If so, whom, and by what means?

[Early afternoon in Violet City will see Kimblee dressed like quite possibly the world's most pretentious horseback rider, what with the black pants tucked into the pale grey knee-high boots, an amber shirt that's perhaps far too nice for the occasion, and the usual thick gloves over his hands, the ends of which disappear neatly under his sleeves. It would look halfway appropriate were he in the company of...I don't know, a Rapidash or something similar, but instead he's got Carlisle out in front of him. Kimblee seems to be checking over his murder mammoth, who's been at a bit less than 100% after almost a week of constant pushing to get to Violet City in the first place; however, after several days' rest, he seems to be doing fine. Kimblee is singing to himself as he circles the creature; it's not entirely perfect, but it's a decent mimickry of the tune Emmy was singing a few days ago.

Either way, he doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that holy balls it's cold out here; hell, he's not even Blofelding it up with his Pineco right now. Obviously, whatever it is he's doing, he's a man on a mission. Or something.]

maybe someone with a very morbid sense of humor that it would be a particularly funny joke.
whether it's true or not though, i'm hoping that i don't have to find out personally any time soon.
because i am not too keen on dying if it turns out to be a lie.
and like you said, plenty of weird stuff happens here anyway so it's not too unbelievable.
...then again, if no one ever dies here it would get pretty crowded eventually.

Well, that's certainly one way of looking at it, isn't it. Normally I would say that the population is small enough that it wouldn't exactly be a concern, but I've seen enough people arrive here within the four months of my stay to agree with you.

About four months, as of this past week. So not nearly as long, but long enough to get some sort of feel for the place.

What have you been doing over such a long span of time? This...challenge whatnot, or...?

mostly spending time with my friends and raising/training pokemon.
but i am collecting the badges as well, if that's what you mean.
though i am not in any real rush to get them.
i only have three so far.

Ah, I've only just started, actually - a few other issues arose to keep me from doing so earlier. Although it does make the gym leaders themselves much easier to defeat, I must admit!

Not to pry into your business, but you mentioned receiving major injuries here - might I ask how?

oh it's fine, don't worry about it.
i don't mind talking about it.
mostly because i don't really remember a lot of it.
but the long and the short of it is: i took a pretty serious blow to the back of the head last april.

yes and no.
the guy who hit me definitely meant to do it, but at the time he wasn't exactly in his right mind at the time.

Interesting...was this an issue with the individual, or something caused by Johto itself? Forgive my curiosity, but this is somewhat relevant to something I've been trying to piece together.

oh, no it wasn't a johto thing.
there was a weird johto thing a few days before but that's not what triggered it.
it was just a weird alien thing.

I've spoken to a few here that claim to be from a different planet altogether - they speak of violence like that as though it's commonplace; they call themselves trolls, I believe? Are you familiar with them - is it anything like that?

Ah, yes - I only know a few of them to talk to, and I didn't catch all of their names; however, I'm rather familiar with Karkat. There's another one I've spoken to once in a while on the network, a female; you can practically hear her cackling while she types, there's not much of another way to describe it. Very ambitious; she was also prone to things such as...

::::) ? I believe that's what it was. And 8s everywhere.

And there was another one, a male, a while back; I didn't see him type or catch his name, but his speech was incredibly hesitant, prone to tics. And he had an incredibly roundabout way of describing things.

yup! i know all three of them.
karkat and i are good friends.
and the girl is vriska! she is also a very good friend of mine.
and that last one would be tavros, i am fairly sure.
i never spoke to him back home so we aren't as close, but i can't think of who else that would be.
none of them are the one that hit me, though.
that would be another guy who isn't here anymore.
and hasn't been for a while.
they seem to have a lot of problems staying here, they leave and come back a lot.
