Personally, I stand by the third assertion provided on the matter - that being that it effectively doesn't make a difference. Either way, lives have been taken; trying to call it anything is for the sake of making the living feel better. Call it murder and others can feel free to condemn the surviving individual; call it self-defense and it relieves the survivor's guilt.
It's all for our own benefit, and it largely depends on how we feel toward the situation personally anyway; it's like everything on the moral scale, really, it's subjective.
