I like Pokemon stories better than I like wartime ones. And it's an interesting reprieve from homework.

How do you name them? I don't want to know what they are, necessarily, but most trainers I've met have a theme to it — or if not a theme, then at least a method to their madness.

Unfortunately, there isn't much of a theme to mine - a large amount of them are just names from my own country that I've heard and happened to like, others are from different languages that I've picked up, but I don't have any particular reason for naming them as I do.
