[...you really aren't backwards about coming forwards, are you, bbthing...
Either way, Kimblee doesn't seem bothered by that, nor is he about to argue in favor of atheism; he actually knows better by now, or at the very least he thinks he has a decent idea.]
Well! I wouldn't worry about it, really; I can tell you now that you aren't wrong in your assumptions. I don't know that we would call Him 'God', but there is an entity where I come from that's very, very similar.
[He pauses for a brief moment, thinking; he's discussed this with Father before, but the conversations were strange - they had been very straightforward while not really explaining very much at all, at least not in a way that Kimblee could understand at the time. Now that he has a bit more...ah, firsthand experience with the way the soul works, some of it makes a bit more sense, but...]
I know He wants happiness for those that inhabit the world; it's simply a matter of finding and creating that happiness for oneself. He doesn't interfere with or dictate that happiness, or where His creations happen to find it; all He asks of us is that we maintain a balance that's sustainable by the world. And this explains the murderers and the villains and all those who would be considered wicked by most - without shadow there can be no light, without evil no goodness and the like. It's all a matter of maintaining balance; ensuring the continuing power of Equivalent Exchange.
So while I believe that conflict definitely does serve a purpose, if 'God' truly received no pleasure from watching us stumble through life trying to find happiness in any way that we see fit, He wouldn't have made that balance so essential to the world. Really, He's unleashed some rather hideous terrors upon the world Himself; just because He wants us to learn things for ourselves doesn't mean He's not amusing Himself with the lessons.
