Because whenever somebody goes and checks out and heads into La-La Land, who do you think has to clean up the mess? Somebody has to handle the Missing Persons report, or haul you in when you try to hold somebody up to feed the habit, or make sure it's actually a suicide. Somebody has to take the responsibility you fucking wouldn't, and then they get to explain it to everybody you ditched on the way.
